Can be mostly prepared in advance, and then quickly finished right when needed. Can be either alcoholic or non-alcoholic.
- ½ cup plus 2 tbsp strawberry cordial (see easy recipe below*)
- Juice of 4 large oranges
- Juice and thin twists of zest from 2 lemons
- 20 dashes Berry Bitters (or to taste)
- 2 oranges, sliced
- 2 lemons, sliced
- Fresh cranberries and blueberries
- Ginger beer
- Sparkling dry white wine OR unsweetened sparkling lemon water (eg Perrier)
The day before: make an ice block that will look fancy in your punch bowl.
An hour or two before serving: put the cordial, fruit juices, lemon twists, and bitters in a punch bowl, then add the citrus fruit slices and berries. Right before serving, add the ice block and top up with ginger beer and either sparkling lemon or sparkling wine.
*Strawberry cordial: Make up to two days in advance
Put 1 pint of hulled, quartered strawberries in top of double boiler, sprinkle with ¼ ish cup of sugar. Place over pot of water and bring gently to boil. Half cover and let simmer for 30ish minutes, until super juicy. Pour through a strainer suspended over a measuring cup.
If you want to be fancy, only use the clear juice that drips through (leave for several hours or overnight), but if you don’t mind making the juice cloudy, press it through. OR just let it cool and add the whole shebang to the punch!
